The book, “Remember the ISD of Our Days and See the ISD of Today” includes a history of the Illinois School for the Deaf from 1839-2022. There are three segments to the book: Part 1 includes the founding of ISD-1959. The book includes a history of the Illinois School for the Deaf from 1839-2022. There are three segments to the book: Part 1 includes the founding of ISD-1959. Part 2 includes information about the school from 1960-present and additionally includes documents written by the superintendents from 1960-present. Part 3 is a history of sports at ISD. ISD is rich in so much more history than is written here. The school has certainly evolved over time and the face of the student has changed with the times.

About the author (2022)

Joan Forney holds a bachelor's degree in Deaf Education from Illinois State University and a Master's Degree from the University of Illinois at Springfield and a Specialist degree from Western Illinois University in Educational Administration. She has been a teacher, principal, and superintendent at the Illinois School for the Deaf. 

Paula Chance holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in History and a Master of Arts degree in Social Studies from Gallaudet University. She is a retired teacher from the Illinois School for the Deaf.

Robert Dramin holds a bachelor's degree from Gallaudet University. He taught American Sign Language at the secondary and college level.

Janet Pyers holds a bachelor's degree from Gallaudet University. She was a teacher at the Illinois School for the Deaf and has volunteered at the Illinois School for the Deaf Alumni Association Museum.

Dave Cook holds an Associate of Occupational Science Degree He is an administrative assistant in the Media Center at the Illinois School for the Deaf.

Ken Estes holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Electro-Mechanical Technology and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology. He works in the Media Center at the Illinois School for the Deaf.
